‘Healthy Body’ – Why approaching this topic?

Why did I decide to take care of my body in a constant and organized way?

The reasons are simple. It is likely that we all know some of them. The other reasons are personal and they vary from one individual to another, being linked to the individual lifestyle, time management, ambition, necessary discipline and so on.

Why did I choose to write about this?

I know, there are authorised people who deal with nutrition, diet, sports / fitness, cosmetics and so on. I do not claim to be a professional in any of these areas, not at all.

But I realized that we, Christians, do not have a culture of caring for our bodies. This subject is rarely (almost inexistent!) preached. Exceptions occur when some preachers decide to refer to topics such as wearing a scarf, the length of the skirts, the colour of women’s nails or the colour of a men’s tie – although these cannot be considered exceptions per se because they do not even concern taking care of the physical body, but more of aspects that are externally linked to the body such as jewellery, clothes, etc.

Why, however, there is this gap in the subjects of preaching / learning and, I would venture to say, even in Christian education in general, it is difficult to explain. The Bible does not support such ignorance in any way, but rather counsels us directly in 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20 to have considerable respect and care for our bodies because they are ‘temples of the Holy Spirit’ and we should ‘honour God with them’. And if the physical body, which is seen, is healthy and cared for, then it will honour the Spirit of God who dwells in it.

Therefore, I want this journey to be one in which I learn how to care for my body in a way I have never done before, discovering, for example, various plants mentioned in the Bible that have extraordinary health benefits and how they could be integrated into different recipes. I also want to discover different methods in which the general way of life can be improved, such as the attitude towards food and water in general, but also towards different types of food in particular, healthy ways of cooking, more or less demanding physical exercises that can give me energy through the day.

I am convinced that this experience will be an extraordinary one and with a positive impact! So, let’s start this with enthusiasm!

Be blessed and remain in the Father’s love!
