On the next street, in the house next door, in the neighboring town (I. For Women)

You’re unhappy because you don’t have a house as big as your neighbour’s. In the neighbouring town, there is a family that sleeps in a house without windows, in the middle of winter. You are sad that the job you have keeps you busy all the time. In the house next door, there is a mother who would give anything to have a job that would allow her to put bread on the children’s table. You are stressed that the phone you have is no longer the latest generation and can no longer be a source of pride in your circle of friends, as everyone already has much newer models. In the neighbouring county, there is a mother who cannot offer her children access to electricity, there is no such thing as access to the internet or any form of technology.

You are unhappy that your son or daughter does not have the expected results at school and you cannot be proud of them because they aren’t in the top of their class. On the other side of the country, there are mothers who fall asleep with a heavy heart because they cannot afford to send their children to school. For them, access to education is a luxury.

You can’t sleep at night because your husband is snoring next to you. You fight every night on the same subject and your love for him slowly fades away. How can he be so tired all the time and sleep like he doesn’t care ?! On the street next door, there is a wife who just found out that her husband died suddenly in a car accident. She would give anything for him to come back and snore all the nights that will follow! She would look at him with love, give him a kiss on the forehead, and put her head on his chest. Suddenly, snoring would sound like the sweetest song.

You’re mad at your son for bringing the wrong girl home. She doesn’t have his education, she doesn’t have any degrees, and she is not even coming from a rich family. In the house next door, a mother is crying next to her child who has just been diagnosed with a serious illness. He’s been in the hospital for months, the drugs are the only ones that keep him alive. She would give anything for her son to be healthy, to find a girl, it wouldn’t matter if she’d be poor or rich, but who would make him smile. It would make her the happiest mother in the world.

You’re tired of cooking every day for a husband who stays at work all day. You feel tired, exhausted, and you’re tired of being the family cook. In the neighbouring town, there is a wife who would give anything to have a husband who would bring some food home. She is the only one who takes care of her family, of the children, she is the one that needs to take care of the house and go to work at the same time. Her husband left her a long time ago and did not look back. She would give anything to receive at least a smile, an encouragement.

Be happy with what you have. Here. Now. Enjoy the family you have, enjoy the house you have. Be thankful that you have a roof over your head. Be happy that you have healthy children who make you tired every day. Be happy that you have a husband who works a lot so that your family does not lack anything. Be happy that you have a husband that hugs you in the evening. Be happy even for the things that cause you discomfort. Embrace them with a smile on your face, and they are all blessings as well. Always compare yourself to those less fortunate than you. It’s the only way to be happy.

Be blessed and always covered in the Father’s love!
