Till when?

We look daily at society, in the countries where we live and we see everywhere all kinds of problems, people facing illness, poverty, family problems and much more. And yet, the state, regardless of its name, seems to be doing little, less and less, to prevent or solve problems like this, to help people, to support them. And if we talk about financial support, in most cases the help is either insufficient or non-existent.

These problems seem to overwhelm us. They overwhelm us if we are the ones in question, they overwhelm us if we just look around helplessly and realize that we do not have the opportunity to change something or at least make a small difference, we feel overwhelmed when we see that our leaders do nothing and there is no way we can persuade them to change the course of action and so on. We often feel that helplessness overwhelms us, we feel helpless even when we want to do something, and sometimes that is the reality.

And in this context, we get to ask ourselves exactly like the psalmist in Psalm 94: ‘Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? (…) They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless. Yet they say ‘The Lord shall not see’.

But doesn’t God really see all these things? Does He not know every problem of every human being?

I think He knows them all. He knows the problems and He has the solution. He also knows those who have the solutions to all these problems but refuses to apply them for various reasons. He knows every man with authority in the country who makes decisions and influences people’s lives. And He does not let those in trouble suffer indefinitely, He keeps them under His wing every second. He “does not forsake his people and does not forsake his inheritance.” Moreover, He will take care to make the “judgment of justice.” Which means that God will reward every person according to their actions.

But until His judgement, I think each of us can do something. No matter how little because every little matters. Therefore, I encourage you to have a week in which to do at least something good, to share at least some good thoughts. In this regard, every day of the following week we can say a prayer for a person who is going through a problem. We can offer a fruit, a sandwich or a portion of food to a person who visits us or who is in need. We can offer a smile to a stranger on our way to work or a compliment to a colleague.

I believe that in this way we can thank God for all the blessings we have and we can show our gratitude even if this is a small way of doing so.

A blessed week in the Father’s love!
