What has happened to us?!

People are busy with life and do not realize when life itself changes. Slowly. Slowly. There is no way back. Or, in the happiest case, there is a way back that will never be found in their lifetime. Maybe not even during their children’s lifetime.

People do not want to see, do not pay attention or do not realize that they systematically receive disease dust in their eyes. Then they are turned back and forth, they are put a hand one by one on their mouth, on their eyes, on their ears, they are whispered and shouted in their ears alternately meaningless news with sensational stench and statistics with the smell of a corpse. They try to digest them, to assimilate them all. Their senses become so confused that they slowly become used to the whole process. Normalcy becomes a permanent state of suffocation, a persistent dizziness. They are becoming more and more convinced that it is normal to breathe, see and smell one by one. Having all the senses at the same time is a story that has never been a reality. They think it’s for their own good not to see while hearing, not to breathe while smelling and not to think while doing anything else.

And this rusty centrifuge that they call life is spinning faster, faster and faster. Those who control its speed know that speed matters. The principle of doing things slowly and well is outdated. The new normalcy is coming fast ahead. And so it must be. So that no one has time to question it. No one needs to think about it, it simply has to be accepted.

And when the whirlwind in which they were caught has stopped, it will be … late. They will raise their eyes and the bright light will hit them like a naughty spotlight on a dark stage. At first their eyes will tear with pain, they will not see anything for a moment, they will not know where they are or what surrounds them. Then, slowly, their eyes will open more, and more, and more… And they will see the disaster that surrounds them. They will understand that nothing is as it was. Their footsteps no longer smell of freedom. The eyes no longer shine with the joy of choice because that option no longer exists. The ears no longer recognize anything they hear. Silent moans, clogged by the longing for free air are buried by the sour noise of the new normal.

What have we done?! What has happened to us?!

‘25. We are brought down to the dust; our bodies cling to the ground. 26. Rise up and help us; rescue us because of your unfailing love.’
